The single, written especially for Lucy by Debbie Wiseman, Classic FM’s composer in residence, was recorded at the iconic Metropolis Studios as part of Lucy’s highly-anticipated first studio recording.

Taking the seat at George Michael’s piano, recording began last year at the legendary Metropolis Studios, and Autumn 2024 will see these recordings enter the world for the first time, beginning with I’m Walking With You on September 13th.

The Story of Lucy

BAFTA nominated Lucy stole the nation’s hearts when she won Channel 4’s The Piano at just 13 years old, having performed on a piano at Leeds Train Station.

Lucy stopped people in their tracks and left bystanders in tears as she played her beautiful rendition of Chopin‘s Nocturne in B-flat Minor.

Lucy is completely blind and has a chromosome 16 duplication, which is a rare condition affecting mental health with autism traits and affecting overall communication. Lucy is hypermobile and suffers with CVS. She is in remission from bi-lateral retina-blastoma and is globally developmentally delayed.

However, Lucy has a talent and it is by using this extraordinary talent that Lucy is able to communicate.

Lucy’s story began with a children’s book with a tiny piano, where at 5 years old Lucy started playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. The family then upgraded her keyboard and realised she was composing music in her head while sitting on the sofa. Lucy was able to play back music after listening to it just once.

World-renowned pianist Lang Lang and pop sensation Mika crowned 13-year-old Lucy the ‘unofficial’ winner of the competition with her stunning performance of Debussy’s Arabesque No1, which she performed in front of 2000 people at the Royal Festival Hall.

Since then…

Lucy was invited to perform at HRH King‘s Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle where she played a note perfect performance of Bach Prelude in C in front of 18 million people.

The world renowned Royal Albert Hall welcomed Lucy to the stage for the first time in October 2023, performing Debussy Arabesque No.1 and Bach Prelude in C to a full house at Classic FM Live. Classic FM's reel of her performance has over 11.7m views - the biggest ever reel on Classic FM to date.

Lucy and Lang Lang’s special bond began on Channel 4’s The Piano and continued at Windsor Castle where they both appeared at the Coronation Concert. Later that year they were both invited to perform at the ITV Royal Variety, again, taking to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall.

Lucy ended last year performing Silent Night on Channel 4’s The Piano Christmas Special - a beautiful duet with jazz legend Gregory Porter.

2024 began with BAFTA nominating Lucy’s performance on Channel 4’s The Piano as TVs Most Memorable Moment of 2023 and Channel 4 made a special documentary about Lucy called ‘The Incredibly Talented Lucy’.

And now…

Taking the seat at George Michael’s piano, recording began last year at the legendary Metropolis Studios for Lucy’s very own album. Autumn 2024 will see these recordings enter the world for the first time, beginning with the release of “I’m Walking With You” on September 13th.
